Health care is changing. Patients are more demanding now than ever because they want to be an active part of their own treatments. Go to your doctor's appointment and have him or her treat you personally, taking into account your age, your medical history, your lifestyle and the characteristics that make you unique... This is what personalised health is all about.

Dassault Systèmes has conducted a survey with CITE Research of over 3,000 citizens in China, France and the United States on personalization in sectors such as mobility, city and smart homes, retail and healthcare. In this last sector, it is worth noting that 87% of consumers surveyed say they want personalized products and services and want them now. Healthcare generates the greatest general interest in the personalization of these goods, followed by Retail, with 85%.

The other three interest categories identified - smart cities at 78%, mobility at 76% and connected home at 74% - are all closely related to health, as many technologies converge in today's interconnected life. The new smart homes and smart cities, as well as mobility solutions, aim to address the health problems of a growing and ageing population, while at the same time addressing people's chronic health conditions and surveillance and care issues.

The areas of health personalisation of greatest interest are products designed to adapt to the body (87%), notifications enabled for emergencies at home (87%), sending location information to the police in times of safety concern (84%), issuing location-based crime alerts (82%), behavioural preventive health plans (81%) and fall alert systems (80%).

Dassault Systèmes has been studying for years how to apply new technologies and advances such as virtual modeling and simulation to this field, so that life science companies can offer patients and physicians unparalleled experiences by connecting data and delivering life models at multiple scales and across multiple physics. They achieve this through platforms such as their interactive 360º 3DEXPERIENCE software, which enables companies to create virtual environments ideal for exploring, discovering, developing, testing and marketing.

The 'Report on the State of Health in Spain' of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), presented at the end of 2019, places Spain below the European Union in terms of public spending on health; however, its citizens enjoy better health, with a higher life expectancy. Many companies in the country already make use of technologies such as 5G, machine learning, IA, IO, Big Data or 3D to offer an à la carte experience to their customers: a preventive medicine that identifies problems more quickly, analyzing how a treatment affects a specific person without exposing them to any danger, avoiding the saturation of the health system...

Other findings from the Dassault Systèmes and CITE Research study include
- A generational divide has been identified, with 93% of millennials, 91% of Z generation and 89% of X generation stating that personalization is very or somewhat important.
- The main benefits of this customisation are improved products, quality of life, well-being and safety, which can be applied to all industries and can produce environmental benefits such as energy efficiency and reduced emissions.
- 22% of respondents would share all their data to obtain better products, with younger consumers again being the most willing.
