3Faktur GmbH installs another HP Multi Jet Fusion Printer

3Faktur GmbH is adding an HP Multi Jet Fusion 5210 3D printer to its machinery. In a direct model comparison of different manufacturers, the decision was made in favour of the HP model due to the material properties, wear resistance and the economic efficiency in the production of larger quantities. With the new installation, the company now has a total of four Multi Jet Fusion printers.

"In our opinion, there was a gap in the market for economical, flexible and wear-resistant additive-produced material. Most of the materials currently available in 3D printing are either not suitable for continuous use or are not economical enough to produce large quantities with high reproducibility. We can fill this market gap with the HP Multi Jet Fusion 5210 and BASF Ultrasint® TPU01," said Markus May, Managing Director of 3Faktur GmbH.

The 3D printing service provider from Jena specializes in the additive production of plastic parts using the HP Jet Fusion process. The company's more than 1,500 customers include national and international industrial groups and medium-sized companies from the manufacturing sector, in particular the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, high-tech and optics, electrical industry, medical technology and plant construction. In addition to classic prototypes, the demand for flexible materials and stronger components has increased significantly in these areas. Thus, a total of around two thirds of all components produced by 3Faktur GmbH are intended for continuous use and are permanently installed in devices and vehicles: "Since the majority of our produced parts are not prototypes but functional parts, it was crucial to use a material that is permanently resilient and wear-resistant. BASF Ultrasint® TPU01 on the HP Multi Jet Fusion 5210 seemed to us to be the best offer on the market in terms of quality and economy," says Markus May. In addition, the intuitive operation, the good integration into production and the powder management were convincing.

The HP Jet Fusion 5200 series offers higher accuracy, better resolution and significantly faster printing for plastics printing. Thanks to the almost complete density, abrasion resistance and elasticity, the components can be used for functional and finished parts. At the same time, the HP Jet Fusion 5200 Series printers offer greater flexibility and agility, making them significantly more cost-effective.

"Additive manufacturing offers incredible potential that has hardly been exploited to date. However, this requires a rethink in the way products are designed. Investing in the right system technology brings long-term competitive advantages thanks to good material properties and a high degree of replicability at low cost," May emphasizes.

BASF Ultrasint® TPU01 was developed by BASF specifically for the HP MultiJet Fusion process. It is particularly suitable for the production of resistant and elastic parts and can be used in a wide range of applications - from industrial applications to sports shoes and the automotive industry.
