Dassault Systèmes is collaborating with Geico Taikisha, a world leader in the planning and construction of automotive paint systems, in a joint initiative to improve production flexibility for automotive manufacturers in an era of increasing mass customization.

Multinozzle printer for creating complex objects, fast

MM3D printing can seamlessly print objects out of inks with varying degrees of stiffness, such as this collapsible origami-inspired sheet. The “joints” are printed from a softer, more flexible material than the “panels,” so the whole structure can be repeatedly folded and unfolded. Credit: Lori K. Sanders

Xerox Holdings Corporation (NYSE: XRX) and Vortran Medical Technology are teaming up to speed and scale production of Vortran’s GO2Vent ventilator and related Airway Pressure Monitor (APM-Plus) for hospitals and emergency response units fighting the battle against COVID-19.

Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, together with start-ups and manufacturers, has launched several initiatives aimed at quickly answering pressing questions about the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiatives leverage the collaborative and swarm intelligence approach of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to quickly identify, qualify, design and manufacture solutions. These solutions are designed to solve current challenges and provide targeted support to hospitals. The initiatives include:

As part of its global solidarity program in the fight against the corona crisis, Henkel has announced that it will make production capacities available at short notice for the manufacture of disinfectants. Within just one week, a production plant at the Düsseldorf site was converted and the first 25,000 liters of hand disinfectants were produced. Henkel donated them to surrounding hospitals and public institutions. Next week, production will continue and about the same amount of disinfectant will be produced again.

- Combat COVID-19 with technology to resume social and economic activity

- SIMULIA XFlow simulation software is used in China's largest modular hospital, built in 14 days to combat COVID-19

- The 3D collaborative platform approach in the cloud replaces an older, slower document centered approach

The current crisis reveals the weaknesses of globally networked manufacturing and its dependence on complex, widely dispersed and vulnerable supply chains. In order to remain independent and capable of action in crisis situations now and in the future, 3D printing is the ideal solution for self-sufficient and flexible manufacturing. In this context, new software tools are helping to digitally transform manufacturing.

The Montana Mask currently used by Billings Clinic, MT

Surgical masks are not to be mistaken for N95 masks and the Montana Mask is a surgical mask. However, these surgical masks can be printed on many 3D printers as they require PLA as print material. They are accepted and used at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.
