EOS, the world's leading technology supplier in the field of industrial 3D printing, and Etihad Airways Engineering, the largest aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services provider in the Middle East, have agreed a strategic partnership which will significantly expand local capabilities for industrial 3D printing in aviation.

Etihad Airways Engineering to install large-scale 3D printer Bigrep ONE to print parts and tooling, followed by a next generation Bigrep EDGE industrial 3D printer to develop, test and certify material for aircraft parts.

Mimaki raises the bar in product design prototyping with best in class fine detail and colour

Under the theme ‘Shape the Future in Colour’, Mimaki will showcase its advanced colour additive manufacturing technology at formnext from the 13-16th November in Frankfurt. Running live on booth D26 in hall 3.1, the Mimaki 3DUJ-553 3D printer allows bureaux, designers and product developers to reach unparalleled levels of photorealism due to its fine detail and extensive colour capability.

Opening a new dimension for Additive Manufacturing, these prototypes designed by NOWLAB the BigRep innovation consultancy, and printed on BigRep’s large-scale 3D printers, include two groundbreaking prototypes for e-mobility applications: the world’s first fully 3D-printed and functional electric motorcycle, the NERA, and a bionic passenger seat, the Aero Seat. Advancing applications in AM are two other new prototypes, the Adaptive Robotic Gripper, designed for flexible handling applications, and the Omni Platform, a 360° mobile industry platform for fully automated manufacturing environments.

Four days, 550 exhibitors, and 36,000 square meters of additive manufacturing made Frankfurt buzz with excitement. The third edition of Formnext—the world's leading exhibition for additive manufacturing— showcased state-of-the-art printers, groundbreaking new technology, and insight from the world’s leaders in additive manufacturing.

As BigRep basks in the glow of a successful Formnext, Moshe Aknin (Chief Technology Officer) talks technonology, the additive market, and what BigRep has planned for the future. The additive industry is growing at an accelerated pace, and the size of the market has attracted some big players, but like any growing industry, new technology and those who develop it will have a strong competitive advantage.

3D Systems' end-to-end workflow encompassing expert biomedical engineers, state-of-the-art software, ColorJet printing technologies and materials produces accurate, detailed models to facilitate improved patient outcomes.

EOS continues to drive the industrialization of additive manufacturing (AM) and will present its newest solutions at this year’s formnext.
