DyeMansion is expanding the parameters for different levels of smoothing on its Powerfuse S.

The VaporFuse Surfacing process is also now compliant with FDA food contact regulations, opening up a new field for real-world food and beverage applications. By expanding its strategic alliance with Stratasys, DyeMansion solidifies its role as a technology and transformational leader in post-processing solutions for industrial polymer 3D printing.
DyeMansion, the global leader in post-processing solutions for industrial polymer 3D printing, announces two new process innovations and another exciting outlook for the Powerfuse S. Attendees at RAPID + TCT 2021 in Chicago can see several real-world applications and demo parts that bring these VaporFuse surfacing innovations to life at DyeMansion's booth #E8207.
Demand for DyeMansion's industrial post-processing solutions has grown rapidly. With over 600 systems installed worldwide and a third of those in North America, DyeMansion is the clear market leader in its category. Due to the increasing demand for its proprietary solutions, DyeMansion has expanded its technology and operations centre at its Austin location, which now includes a manufacturing facility for all consumables and a warehouse for spare parts.
"We are currently experiencing strong market growth in North America and are very pleased that we can now better support our American customers with our fully operational US site. With eleven people on our US team, our growing number of distribution and manufacturing partners and our new partnership with Stratasys, we are looking to a colourful future. We are also very excited to now have Stratasys Direct Manufacturing as a workflow customer, so together we can handle the most challenging high-volume projects," said Felix Ewald, Co-Founder & CEO of DyeMansion.
DyeMansion is expanding its global partner platform with two new authorised distributors who now offer DyeMansion products along with Stratasys technology: Advanced Tech and CATi, both based in Illinois. DyeMansion's Production Partner services business is also growing in North America. Stratasys Direct Manufacturing is currently expanding its post-processing capabilities at its Powder Bed Fusion manufacturing facility in Belton, Texas, adding several new DyeMansion systems, including the Powershot S and DM60. The launch is expected in Q4 2021.
"We produce thousands of powder bed fused parts per month and our current DyeMansion equipment is invaluable for efficiently processing components," said Greg Reynolds, vice president of operations at Stratasys Direct. "It was an easy decision to add more DyeMansion equipment to further enhance our capabilities. We look forward to offering these enhanced surfaces to our customers."
DyeMansion's VaporFuse Surfacing process for sealed surfaces is now also compliant with U.S. Food and Drug Administration FDA regulations for food contact, according to EU specifications. The VaporFuse VF47 Eco Fluid solvent can be used for contact with all types of food for which the base polymer is both technically suitable and approved. An example of a real food application can be seen on the DyeMansion stand at RAPID. The PA2201 part produced by Kuhn-Stoff GmbH & Co KG with five funnels arranged next to each other is used in the serial production of foodstuffs.
For customers of the Powerfuse S, three ready-to-use parameter sets for different smoothing strengths are available. The so-called "Levels of Smoothing" are Light, Balanced and Strong. All process parameters can also be customised to meet the requirements of different applications, making the Powerfuse S the most adaptable and reliable vapour polishing system on the market. Levels of Smoothing are now available for various materials such as EOS PA 2200, EOS TPU 1301, HP 3D HR PA 11/12 and HP BASF Ultrasint TPU 01. The list of compatible materials is constantly being expanded.
In addition to these two application-ready innovations, DyeMansion's development of an environmentally friendly solvent that is bio-based and biodegradable provides another exciting outlook for anyone who wants to steam-clean polypropylene (PP) parts. Once again, DyeMansion has found a solution that simultaneously meets high performance and sustainability standards.
This solution is currently being validated with various polypropylene materials and successfully tested for Ricoh PP, HP Ultrasint PP, ALM PP400, VoxeljetPP, AM Polymers PP03, Ultimaker PP (FDM printed), EOS PP1101 and DSM ARNILENE AM6002.
The first results obtained with a beta version of a Powerfuse S for polypropylene smoothing can be seen at the RAPID show. Be one of the first to have polypropylene parts treated with VaporFuse Surfacing: If you are interested and have a polypropylene application, you can contact DyeMansion directly. Applications for the pilot phase will begin in mid-2022.
