Berlin-based 3D printing start-up Quantica announces the T1 Pro 3D printer, the world’s first printhead and printing system capable of jetting and combining multiple ultra high performance resins with voxel level control, in order to print multi-colored, multi strength and multi functional 3D applications, all-in-one. Quantica also announces that former CTO at Xaar, Ramon Borrell, has joined the Quantica team as Chief Technical Officer.
The paradigm-shifting printing technology, leveraging on Quantica's proprietary printhead technology developed over the past four years, can process resins up to 15 times more viscous than what is used in current multi material jetting systems. Inkjet 3D printing has previously mostly been an expensive prototyping or modelling technology, partly due to material constraints coming from the printheads. With the novel printhead architecture, Quantica has proven the ability to print SLA/DLP resins with functional characteristics - combining the resins in single-production workflows. This opens the door to multi material end parts and manufacturing use cases not accessible to any other technology on the market today.
In parallel to printhead development, Quantica developed in-house a full printing system that is now available as an Application and Material Development Printer for researchers and industrial R&D teams targeting extreme viscosity multi material applications. The system is on display at Formnext.
The Quantica team has already proven the technology with printed combinations of Class II medical device materials approved for permanent in mouth use, and signed a Joint Development Agreement with a leading dental company. The program will deliver a full 3D printing system complete with materials, software and user friendly interfaces for manufacturing of permanent dental applications combining up to six materials.
Quantica is now looking for partners across all sectors to further explore applications for the next frontier of material jetting and is offering their experimental printing system in a limited number to qualified researchers and R&D departments.

Apart from the new, ground breaking technology Quantica is also proud to announce the addition of industry expert Ramon Borrell as Quantica’s CTO. Mr. Borell has 28 years of inkjet and industrial printing system experience, first 14 years at HP and then 14 years as CTO at Xaar, adding both acclaimed knowledge and strong leadership to the team.

Quantica aims to eventually commercialize the printhead in an operator-ready desktop ecosystem, which will be backed by industry-leading software and collaboratively developed materials that will accelerate potential applications and market development.
