Digitalisation is the key to mastering current and future challenges in the transport sector. At InnoTrans 2022, Dassault Systèmes will be demonstrating how the use of virtual twins can help the industry to decisively accelerate vehicle production, infrastructure projects and operational planning while achieving sustainability goals. The leading international trade fair for transport technology will take place in Berlin from 20 to 23 September.

The path towards digital rail is characterised by numerous challenges. These include the timely realisation of large-scale transport projects in a complex, regulatory environment with interconnected disciplines, as well as the provision of competitive and sustainable rail transport characterised by customer satisfaction, punctuality and a large route network. Dassault Systèmes will be demonstrating how this can be managed with virtual twins at stand 275 in Hall 6.1.

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides the industry with the ability to virtually map the complexity of the rail network in all its facets. The entire railway ecosystem can benefit from the cloud-based platform. Three main areas of application are the focus of the trade fair presentation at InnoTrans:

- Development of rail vehicles and components: With the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, manufacturers receive the tools to develop virtual 3D models of any kind with system modelling and simulation. This facilitates, among other things, design, systems engineering, shop floor management and maintenance planning.
- Design and construction of rail infrastructure: 3DEXPERIENCE extends BIM modelling and BIM data management from design through construction to maintenance of the infrastructure and ensures detailed coordination of construction work in real time. Through intelligent information exchange, all stakeholders can access, analyse and update data at any time.
- Rail operations planning: Planning, operations, optimisation and maintenance applications provide the basis for self-learning applications and analytics to continuously optimise rail capital, train operations and maintenance. Dedicated planning methods and tools for fleet, staff and freight schedules also increase employee and passenger satisfaction.

Guillaume Vendroux, CEO of DELMIA, will discuss the advantages of virtual twins for manufacturing and operations in the rail sector at the Speakers' Corner. On 20 September from 13:30 to 14:30, he will talk about how the DELMIA software solution - based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform - supports train manufacturers and railway service providers by simulating real operations with virtual models. Using various practical examples, the presentation will also illustrate how Dassault Systèmes' solutions and 20 years of in-depth industry know-how help the rail industry to achieve sustainable, innovative strategies.
