BOFA International increases value for the 3-D printing sector with a new design and optimisation of the 3-D PrintPRO 4 technology, offering a larger airflow area for fume extraction and expanded filtration capacity.

The improved 3-D PrintPRO 4 is an industrial machine suitable for larger manufacturing processes involving polymer-VAT polymerisation or fused filament fabrication with polymers.

The upgraded machine offers advanced multi-stage gas filtration with a deeper carbon bed to capture even more potentially harmful fumes, which in turn extends filter life and ensures safe, odourless printing for longer periods. There is also a larger HEPA filter, allowing multiple 3D printers to be connected to a single BOFA unit to optimise the investment in extraction technology; keeping the workplace free of airborne contaminants and the unit free of particulate residue.

Airflow has been doubled to 175 ft³/min (4.96 m³/min) with the improved technology compared to the original 3-D PrintPRO 4, making the unit suitable for a wider range of industrial 3-D printers including large format printers.

The operating pressure of the new 3-D PrintPRO 4 has been tripled to 96 mbar, giving the unit higher system resistance and ensuring effective performance in complex installations and multiple printer architectures. The new-look 3-D PrintPRO 4 has been tested to UKCA, CE, UL and cUL standards.

Haydn Knight, Sales & Marketing Manager at BOFA, comments, "The 3D printing market is evolving rapidly and the enhancements to our 3-D PrintPRO range address the industry trend towards faster print capacity and larger build chambers.

Our fume extraction system options for this market continue to improve, which should emphasise our leadership position in responding to the needs of companies investing in the benefits of industrial additive manufacturing processes."
