3D printing contributes to digitize productive processes, favoring automation and increasing productivity, thus reducing its climate impact
The "Dubai 3D Printing Strategy" requires 25% of new buildings' components to be manufactured with 3D technology by 2025
Apis Cor recently completed 3D printed wall structures of a two-story administrative building for the Dubai Municipality. Standing at 9.5 meters tall with an area of 640 square meters, it is the largest 3D printed building to date.
WASP and Mario Cucinella Architects present TECLA
WASP and MC A - Mario Cucinella Architects have embarked on the construction of an innovative model for a 3D printed habitat and will be launching the first prototype near Bologna, Italy. Borne from a vision to provide a home for everyone at a time of exponential population increase and an associated lack of affordable housing, TECLA is a new circular housing model, created using entirely reusable, recyclable materials taken from the local terrain. Built using Crane WASP – the latest innovation in on-site 3D construction, TECLA represents a step-change in the move towards eco-housing.

Royal HaskoningDHV, CEAD and DSM today announced that they have designed the first lightweight 3D printed FRP pedestrian bridge prototype using a composite material. It consists of a glass filled thermoplastic PET (Arnite®) and is combined with continuous glass fibres which are added in the 3D printing process. This unique combination offers high strength with extreme versatility and sustainability.
Only with natural materials the Wasp Crane Gaia prints sustainable buildings. A special feature here is that the project was only realized with raw materials located at the printing site. Additive manufacturing is slowly making its way into the manufacturing processes in the construction industry. New projects are being implemented step by step. We took a close look at the Shamballa project.
During the Spring COBOD has sent out a series of announcements underlining the traction the company has and its leading position within 3D construction printing.
The CREATE Group from the University of Southern Denmark and WASP Hub Denmark announces the completion of HORTUS_XL | Astaxanthin.g, the world´s first 3D Printed bio-reactor, designed by ecoLogicStudio and developed in a research partnership with and the Synthetic Landscape Lab at Innsbruck University. The work is featured in the exhibition “Le Fabrique du Vivant” at the Centre Pompidou in Paris from 20 February to 15 April 2019. The show, part of Mutations-Créations series and curated by Marie-Ange Brayer with Olivier Zeitoun, retraces the archaeology of the living and of artificial life. The installation is intended as speculative 1:1 scale prototype of living architecture, a new generation of thick biophilic architectural skin receptive to urban life. The structure is designed algorithmically and produced by means of large-scale high-resolution 3D printing.
