At the formnext 2019, EOS is showcasing EOS Shared Modules as a production-ready solution. Consisting of various hardware and software modules, the solution simplifies and parallelizes the workflow both upstream and downstream of the build process. Especially when operating multiple 3D printing systems, EOS Shared Modules makes it possible to manufacture high-quality metal parts on an efficient, scalable, profitable basis. EOS Shared Modules is scheduled to be available by the second half of 2020.

It is often difficult to achieve good results in rubber processing with 3D printers, the needs of this material may require special technical characteristics and many manufacturers of machines and compounds do not invest enough in research because the industrial rubber market is perceived as not rich enough.

Background

Ranking among America’s top aviation schools since 1925, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University offers a variety of programs in aviation, applied science, engineering, computers and business. Its Mechanical Engineering Department is currently involved in groundbreaking research on battery cooling systems. Here, researchers are using the 3devo Composer Filament Maker to mix plastics and phase-change materials (PCM) into high-quality filament that can potentially 3D print lightweight, self-contained heat sinks.

Katsutoshi Matsuura, President of Matsuura Machinery Corporation and Gerhard Knienieder, Managing Director of the Emuge-Franken group, announced at a common press conference at the EMO in Hannover, that they will collaborate initially for 3 years with the development of tooling solutions for the Hybrid Additive Manufacturing market. To offer tangible benefits for the customer in Additive Manufacturing Matsuura utilises a combination of traditional subtractive machining with powder bed additive manufacturing in one machine, as is offered on the LUMEX Hybrid Additive Manufacturing machine platform.
